Please find our grooming agreement below by way of information for our website. Signing this will be required before appointments can commence.

Vaccinations

All pets should be up to date with their vaccinations, which will help prevent illnesses in our parlour. We will not be responsible if your pet becomes ill during their time with us due to undisclosed medical conditions.

Aggressive or dangerous pets

Owners MUST inform us if your pet bites, has bitten, or is aggressive to people, other pets or specific grooming procedures. Muzzles may be used if necessary. Muzzling will not harm your pet and protects both the pet and the groomer. We reserve the right to refuse/stop services for such behaviour at any time before or during the grooming process, and in some cases, charge an aggressive dog fee in addition to the regular grooming price.

Medical problems & senior dogs

Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially for senior pets with health problems, and can expose hidden medical problems or aggravate a current one during or after the groom. Because senior pets with health problems have a greater chance of injury, these pets will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort, in styles that will not add to their stress. In the best interest of your pet, should a necessity arise, we will seek veterinary treatment for your pet.

Any injuries that are sustained within the parlour during your pets groom will be at Chique Pets expense unless it was a pre-diagnosed illness or injury that has not been disclosed to us.

Matted coats

Pets with matted coats need extra attention. Mats left in a pet's coat only grow tighter & can cause serious discomfort. We will not cause serious or undue stress to your pet by continually de-matting your pet for you. Mats can be very difficult to remove and may require the pets to be clipped very short all over, dramatically changing their appearance. However, this will be discussed with you prior to any work done on your pet.

When necessary, removing a heavily matted coat includes risks of nicks, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin folds trapped in the mats. After-effects of mat removal procedures can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions. Prevention is the best defence against matting by scheduling regular grooming appointments.

There is an extra charge when grooming matted dogs.

Parasites

If you suspect your pet has fleas or ticks, prompt and thorough action on your part will be recommended. If fleas or ticks are found during the groom, your pets will automatically receive a flea bath and treatments to kill the parasites and an extra charge will be applied on top of the regular groom. If ticks are found they will be removed safely if possible.

Accidents

Grooming equipment is sharp and even though we use extreme caution and care in all situations, there is always the possibility an accident could occur e.g. cuts, nicks, scratches, cracking of nails etc. In most cases, this can happen when a pet is wiggling or moving around. If you arrive early to collect your pet and they are still on the table please do NOT talk to them or allow him/her to see you. Every effort will be made to ensure your pet is groomed as safely as possible, but an excited pet can be dangerous to continue to work on.

Late pick up

Please be on time to collect your pet as there is only limited space within the salon and it is unfair to keep a pet with us longer than necessary. We cannot let them out for the toilet and sometimes arrange bookings for nervous or aggressive pets for when no other pets will be with us. If for any reason you are going to be late please notify us so that we are aware. There may be an added fee to the final cost if the pet is with us for an extensive amount of time.

No shows & Cancelations

We ask for 48 HOURS notice if cancelling an appointment. No shows, last-minute cancellations (less than 48 hours) or continual re-scheduling are subject to a fee that will be added to your next appointment. We understand there are sometimes emergency situations and we will work with you, but not on a continued basis. Please be respectful of our time as we are a by-appointment business, and another client could have taken that appointment.
